I suspect you will still copy over the dups that are weirdly 'syncing' between those two folders but once copied, you can go into the relevant folders and delete the dups (do one file first just to prove the 'sync' link really is broken). Setup your personal choices (background, screen saver blah blah blah) then go into File Explorer, C:\Users\ old account\ and for each of the personal folders (Docs, Pics, Vids, Music, Contacts, Favourites, Downloads, Desktop etc) copy the contents into the new user folder. Make it an Administrator (or course) rather than a Standard User, then log out of that 'corrupted' account and into the new one.
